Chapter 21: Six blue stars in the window
In Chapter 21, the last of the six Koski brothers enters the service.
1. Details of John's training are from various sources. More information on Camp Croft, including a scan of the T.S. Ticket mentioned in the chapter.
2. Toivo Laitinan lived just a few blocks from the Koski family in West Ishpeming. He died of wounds received in combat during WWII during the Normany invasion.
3. The Koski family did display a 6-star son-in-service flag in the door,. but we do not know if Bobby Emanuelson stopped to look at it as he delivered the morning papers.
