In Chapter 3, life for the Koski family changes dramatically with the death or their mother soon after the birth of the 12th Koski child.

A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled
His Life and Blood has given
And though her body slumbers here
Her soul is safe in Heaven.
