Chapter 35: A little bit of good In Chapter 35, Art and the 332nd resume the advance into Germany. 1. According to the unit history of the 332nd Engineers, the Army repeatedly asked for volunteers to join infantry outfits as replacement soldiers. So many enlisted men from the 332nd volunteered that the outfit had to hire large numbers of civilian workers to complete construction projects. 2. Details of the mines and booby traps are based on the unit history of the 332nd. 2. Art did report adopting a German Shepard puppy in Germany which he referred to as his “Kraut dog,” but the conversation about SPAM is fictionalized. Media and Web links: 1.
