Chapter 6: War is a fearful thing

Chapter 6 watches events unfolding in Europe as war becomes all but inevitable.
1. Alfred Koski did not approve of radio, believing that it could be a corrupting influence. George Koski built his own ham radio set, which the brothers used to listen to radio broadcasts. They were apparently using that radio set when their father caught them listening to the news broadcast of the Finnish-Russian war.
2. The conversation between Johnny and Bobby is fictionalized, but there are many accounts of Johnny reciting heroic speeches and poetry, including I Have a Rendezvous with Death by Alan Seeger.
