Chapter 68: Not forgotten Chapter 68 covers the final return of John Koski. 1. The description of the return of John's body is based on Edna Mae's memory of those events and articles in the Mining Journal. Edna Mae remembers that one of the soldiers said he had a message from Johnny, that he had "died a Christian." 2. The soldiers killed in WWII have not been forgotten by the Koski family, by the people of Ishpeming, or by the veterans and descendants of the 10th Mountain Infantry Division. a. In August of 2005, Oscar Koski, the extended Koski family, and a number of men who served with Johnny in F-85 gathered in Ishpeming for a reunion and a celebration of the life of John Leslie Koski. b. A photo of the back of the monument near the Ishpeming Post Office, listing the names of the soldiers from who were killed in WII. c. Photo of the 10th Mountain Infantry Division monument on Tennessee Pass near Denver Colorado, including a close-up showing John Koski's name. 3. Ishpeming residents killed in action in World War II. 4. The West Ishpeming WWII Honor Roll posted in the Ishpeming Township Hall. (Carl Arthur Koski is incorrectly listed as Arthur C. Koski, probably because everyone knew him as Art.) Media and Web links: 1. Figure 68-1 Video: Edna Mae remembers the day John Koski returned home. 2.
