November 8, 2012: The signing ceremony for the Banten, Indonesia 670 MW Coal Fired Power Plant Project between Harbin Electric International Co., Ltd. (HEI) and Genting Energy, Malaysia was held in Shangri-la Hotel, Harbin. Ceremony attendees from the Harbin side include Gong Jingkun, Chairman of the Board of Harbin Electric Corporation Group (HEC), Zhang Haiquan, Vice President of Harbin Electric Company Limited, Guo Yu, Chairman of the Board and President of HEI, Zhang Liwei, Vice President of HEI, Dong Yinzhu, Vice President of HEI, Yang Qingli, Vice President of HEI, Qiu Xiliang, Chairman of the Board and President of Harbin Electric Machinery Co., Ltd., Wang Dexing, Chairman of the Board and President of Harbin Boiler Co., Ltd., Chen Dongshi, Chairman of the Board and President of Harbin Turbine Co., Ltd. and other partners. Ceremony attendees from the Genting side include Ong Tiong Soon, CEO of Genting Energy, Ling Eng Kheat, Senior Vice President of Genting Energy, Dale Lindberg, Vice President of BV International, Suqing Wang, Project Director of BV International and other foreign guests. Master of Ceremonies for the event was Dong Yinzhu, Vice President of HEI.
At 17:18, Mr. Dong Yinzhu announced the opening of the signing ceremony. Mr. Dong first introduced the leaders and guests from both sides. Afterwards, Mr. Gong Jingkun, Chairman of the Board of HEC and Mr. Ong Tiong Soon respectively delivered speeches on behalf of each side.
Mr. Gong Jingkun, Chairman of HEC, expressed in his speech that Genting Group is one of the top ten prestigious corporations who wields a wide range of businesses and comprehensive strength, Genting Energy is a famous corporation with a diverse makeup and a member of Genting Group. He added that it is HEC’s Great honor to cooperate with the most capable enterprise of Malaysia and that HEC appreciates the consigning of the Banten Project with HEC. President Gong emphasized that HEI has become a core enterprise of HEC for its execution of the Internationalization strategy. Over the years, HEI has relied upon HEC’s strong technical superiority and product resources as well as HEI’s rich EPC Contract experience, outstanding project management ability, innovative market development strategy and unique marketing planning to excel in the field. President Gong also said that HEC will rely on its excellent performance as well as HEI’s international first-class electrical service to build a high-quality project for our Malaysian friends and open a new chapter in a long-term and healthy cooperation of development in the field of bilateral economy and trade.
Mr. Ong Tiong Soon, CEO of Genting Energy, firstly expressed his thanks to HEC and HEI for their hospitable reception in his speech. The 670 MW Banten Coal Fired Power Plant Project has been successfully signed thanks to the joint efforts of Genting Energy and HEI. President Ong expressed his thanks to both parties’ staff members that participated in the contract’s negotiation and paid great effort to this project. Ong emphasized that the Banten project is the basis of their future long-term cooperation. He hopes that both parties will strengthen their cooperation and develop together in the global power field.
After that, Chairman and General Manager of HEI Mr. Guo Yu and Genting energy CEO Mr. Ong Tiong Soon signed the formal EPC Contract of the Banten, Indonesia 670 MW Coal Fired Power Plant Project. Mr. Gong Jingkun, Chairman of the Board of HEC, Mr. Ling Eng Kheat, Senior Vice Deputy General Manager, and other leaders and guests from both parties witnessed this great moment. After the signing ceremony, all the guests toasted together for the successful signing of the Banten, Indonesia 670 MW Coal Fired Power Plant Project and wished for further successes in cooperation and that business keep flourishing.
The Banten, Indonesia 670 MW Coal Fired Power Plant Project is the first cooperative EPC project between HEI and Genting energy. It engaged a fully cooperative spirit between the parties and laid a solid foundation for promoting further friendship and cooperation down the road. Of the two companies, one is a well-known Malaysian international company and the other is a competitive international electric service company. We believe that this powerful union between HEI and Genting energy will enhance the position of HEI in the EPC project field and stimulate the overall growth of HEI in the long-run.
