On July 19, 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a state visit. On the previous day, President Xi published a signed article titled "Working Hand in Hand for a Better Future” on Al Ittihad and The National, two mainstream newspapers in the UAE. In the article, he mentioned that the two countries’ new and high technology cooperation was on the rise, and specially stated that the Dubai Hassyan Clean Coal Power Plant Project constructed by HE, was the first Middle East project financed by the Silk Road Fund and would be the first clean coal plant in the region after it was completed.

The Dubai Hassyan Clean Coal Power Plant was also highlighted in coverage by such Chinese mainstream media as People's Daily, People's Daily Online, Xinhua News, Global Times, CCTV and CNR Voice of China.
